The role of infectious diseases pharmacists has become more critical than ever before. Their expertise in antimicrobial stewardship, infectious disease management and interdisciplinary collaboration is paramount in safeguarding public health on a global scale. At the heart of infectious diseases pharmacy lies the concept of antimicrobial stewardship. Antimicrobial resistance poses one of the most significant threats to modern medicine, rendering once-potent antibiotics ineffective and complicating the treatment of even common infections. In response, infectious diseases pharmacists are at the forefront of efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance through judicious antibiotic use.
